Reading these three articles really opened my eyes about education and culture. My sister is 22 and she dropped out of high school when she was 16. My family has been really wanting her to go to college and get a degree because it is important for a good job. I always thought that she should go. But, the truth is it probably wouldn't benefit her. Just like it won't benefit many other people. Since I was little, going to college was never a question, I was going. I think college is a fun time and a good experience but if I could have skipped it and just started at a good job I would have. I think the cost of college is really crazy and that like the articles said, a college degree isn't really worth much. The scary part is that you can spend Thousands and thousands of dollars and still never get the job you wanted. It's really scary. Also, how knows what they want to do when they are 18?! deciding what you want to do with the rest of your life at this age is stupid. Even if you wanted to do it your whole life, you don't know. You're barley an adult and here you are deciding your whole future. There's nothing wrong with changing your major but you risk wasting precious time and money. I really wish they would rethink the way that college should be. People are living much longer. I think after high school more people should consider leap years or traveling or any kind of new experience to get out in the world and see what you like to do before you decide your whole life. Unfortunately like the articles said, college is second nature so most people don't think about other opportunities.
